My son recently crossed a wobbly rope bridge at a really cool park in the Smoky Mountains while in Gaitlingburg, Tennessee. I caught the moment on video—his small frame balancing each step, pausing, then pushing forward - no, actually running, despite his nerves. I'm not sure if this kid has one ounce of fear!
It struck me: this is exactly what fundraising feels like for so many nonprofit leaders.
You know it’s important.
You know you have to cross it to get to your mission’s next milestone.
But the fear is real. The uncertainty is loud. And it’s easier to freeze or back away.
But here’s what I’ve learned: fear is part of the process. You move forward anyway.
And when you do—step by step—you build confidence. Clarity. Courage.
If fundraising feels scary, you’re not alone.
But the mission on the other side of that rope bridge? It’s worth it. Every step. Every time.
Let’s talk if you need help making that first step a little less wobbly.
